On the juniper-covered pastures of Muuksi, you can see a herd of more than 30 Estonian Native Horses, along with foals and Scottish Highland cattle. The cattle, Pilli and Maali, are happy to accept some bread, and the horses will gladly come over for a pat.
The hostess introduces the aboriginal Estonian Native Horse and explains what makes this indigenous breed unique in the world and why its preservation is so important.
You will learn what kind of animal the horse is, how it should be kept, and many other interesting facts about horses and cattle.
Our horses and cattle help maintain endangered semi-natural habitats known as alvars. We also talk about biodiversity on alvars and their restoration.
